about me.

My name is Diana Rose Sciacca, I take photos of cool things & even cooler people.

I got my first camera (a Nikon D40) when I was in the eighth grade. As I opened the strangely heavy and large box, I was immediately overwhelmed with emotion. Little did I know, that camera (and later a Pentax K1000, Canon 6D, & Canon 5D Mark IV) would transform me as a person and ultimately change my life.

I was born and raised in Michigan and I’m happy to say that the midwestern politeness will never leave me, same goes with the accent (you’ll catch it within the first minute of talking to me). BUT, California had been calling my name ever since I could remember - I was able to visit family in San Diego often and “something” - maybe it was the warm ocean breeze, the pretty palm trees swaying in the air, the delicious fish tacos - just stuck. I knew I’d make it out here one day and (spoiler alert) I did. I was lucky enough to go to the University of San Diego where I majored in Communication Studies and my love for photography unraveled. My freshman year I was introduced to film photography and that’s when I really, truly knew that I wanted to be a photographer, an artist. I wanted to capture everything I saw and everyone I met, f o r e v e r - seriously, am I the only one who wishes we could take pictures with a simple blink of our eyes?

So fast forward to now: I’m a full-time freelance photographer in San Diego. People always ask what I specialize in, and to be honest, still trying to figure that one out, but for now, I’m photographing anything, everything, anyone & everyone.

I’m still learning and growing and I’d be flattered to learn and grow with you.
